If you're experiencing low libido, you may need testosterone for women. While men need much more testosterone in their bodies than women, testosterone is not just for guys. We ladies also need it.

Benefits of Testosterone

  • Feeling Sexy? Not only does testosterone help women to have a healthy sex drive, it also helps our bodies to have a better response to sexual sensations and helps to create vaginal lubrication and elasticity.

  • Feeling Good: Testosterone helps to give us energy and keep us in a good mood.

  • Bones and Muscles: Testosterone helps our bodies to build muscle, strengthen our bones, and keep our balance and coordination.

Low Female Testosterone

Testosterone is produced in our ovaries and our adrenal glands. Between the ages of 35-55, women's testosterone production decreases by about 50%.

If your testosterone levels are low, you may be experiencing the following symptoms:

fatigue, muscle atrophy, loss of energy, decreased libido, decreased sexual sensation, osteoporosis, weight gain, loss of strength, vaginal dryness, thinning of pubic hair

Supplements - Testosterone for Women

  • Synthetic Testosterone: Synthetic testosterone supplements are available through your doctor. The most common pill is Estratest, which can cause a number of unwanted side effects.

  • Natural Testosterone: Natural testosterone supplements are bioidentical to the testosterone made in your body. You can get natural testosterone supplements as a pill, cream, or gel.

Using natural testosterone supplements not only helps your sex drive, but it also helps your bone strength.

  • DHEA: You can get this from your doctor or over the counter, and it can be used in either a cream or pill form. This supplement is bioidentical (opposed to synthetic).

  • Herbal Supplements: You can also use herbs like tongkat ali, rhodiola rosea, and catuaba bark.

Be sure to have your levels checked by your doctor in order to determine whether your testosterone levels are low or not. You don't want to take supplements to increase your testosterone level if your level is already normal.

High Testosterone in Women

While you don't want a low level of testosterone, you also don't want too much testosterone. If you have excess testosterone, you may be experiencing these symptoms:

increased facial hair, nervousness, hair loss, skipping periods, aggression, acne, weight gain
