Flax Seed Grinder

Using a flax seed grinder is a great way to have these nutrient rich seeds whenever you want, in a form that gives you the most benefit.

Flaxseeds are a great natural remedy for menopause symptoms like hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.

Why Grind?

If you eat flax seeds whole instead of grinding them, your body won't absorb all of the nutrients and beneficial ingredients. You've got to grind them in order to help your body extract all of the goodness out of them.

If you choose to take flaxseed oil instead of eating ground flax seed, know that flax seed oil does not contain fiber and lignans, so you'll miss out on all of the great effects that they offer.

You can purchase ground flaxseed

online or at your grocery store if you don't want to grind it yourself. Just be sure to store it in the refrigerator.

Using Your Flax Seed Grinder

Fresh flax seed grinders

are similar to coffee grinders and food processors (in fact, you can use your coffee grinder or food processor to grind your seeds).

They are very easy to use. For most models, you simply pour some seeds into a small clear compartment, attach it to the base, press a button, and you're done.

Grind only what you will be eating for the next few days, and be sure to keep your ground seed in the refrigerator, as it will go bad if you don't.

Dosage

Taking 1 tablespoon twice a day will help to relive your hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.

There are two main types of flaxseed: brown flax seed and golden flax seed. They have a little bit of a different taste, and I think the golden flax seed tastes better, and they blend into foods better.

Ground flax seeds have a nutty flavor that tastes delicious with yogurt (my personal favorite), on top of cereal, toast, salad or baked into muffins and breads.

The Healthful Golden Flax Seed

Eating ground flax seed can have many excellent effects on your health. Along with all of the following, flaxseeds also contain folate, vitamin B-6, magnesium, iron, zinc, and calcium.

  • Phytoestrogens: These are natural estrogens found in plants. Their structure is similar to the structure of the natural estrogen created in our bodies.

Taking phytoestrogens gives our bodies estrogen like effects which can reduce hot flashes, nightsweats, and vaginal dryness. It can also help us to avoid osteoporosis.

  • Lignans: Lignans are a type of phytoestrogen. The amazing thing about flax seeds is that they have 75-800 times more lignans than vegetables.

Including lignans into your regular diet may also reduce your risk of developing breast cancer and heart disease.

  • Fiber: Fiber will help to keep your cholesterol level low. It reduces the risk of heart disease, and also acts as a natural laxitive that will keep you regular. (Constipation affects your skin, so fiber will also help give your skin a healthy glow.)

  • Omega 3s: Among other things, this "good fatty acid" reduce the risk of heart disease, reduces depression, and helps to prevent osteoporosis.
