Pre Menopause Symptoms
& Treatments

Your pre menopause symptoms are normal. While each woman's symptoms vary depending on her body and her circumstances, the majority of women experience symptoms ranging from irritating to unbearable.

What Are the Pre Menopause Symptoms?

Every woman is different, so every woman will experience early menopause a bit differently. But, chances are (unless you are very lucky) you will experience at least a few of these pre menopause symptoms.

1. Irregular Period

Your shifting hormones are causing your periods to be irregular. Maybe they are heavier, maybe they are lighter, but they are different from what they were earlier in your life.

2. Hot Flashes

This is one of the most common symptoms of pre menopause, and, unfortunately, it can happen anywhere... the office, the classroom, a party... It can be quite inconvenient and uncomfortable.

3. Night Sweats

It's hard to sleep when you're sweating through your sheets. Having hot flashes at night means waking up multiple times to change your sheets or your clothes. (If you are still wearing clothes!)

4. Problems Sleeping

Night sweats are one reason that you can't fall asleep. But even without them, insomnia is a common symptom of pre menopause.

5. Migraines and Headaches

Many women suffer from very painful migraines and headaches. It's difficult to know the exact reason why, but avoiding certain irritants and balancing your hormones can help.

6. Tender Breasts

This symptom of PMS is exaggerated in pre menopause, and it makes common tasks difficult to perform. Although breast tenderness is a terrific excuse not to exercise (ouch!), exercising can help.

7. Vaginal Dryness

Vaginal dryness is one of the most under-treated symptoms of menopause. Women are embarrassed to talk about their vaginal dryness, but they don't realize that many other women are facing the same issue. This symptom can make it painful and difficult to urinate and have sex.

Speaking of this area... some women also experience more yeast infections than normal.

8. Weight Gain

There it is. Right around the middle. It seems that no matter what we do, we're gaining weight. There is a reason that we keep gaining weight although we're eating the same foods.

Find out what foods should you be eating to help your body and your weight.

9. Joint Pain & Osteoarthritis

Along with joint pain, you may be in the beginning stages of osteoporosis. Be sure that you are getting exercise, stretching, and taking your omega 3s and calcium supplements.

10. Acne

Again? Didn't we already go through this when we were teenagers? Yes, but our low estrogen levels are making our skin more oily, and therefore, more prone to acne.

11. Fatigue

Your sluggishness is common for menopausal and pre menopausal women. Among other factors, it's caused by your shifting hormones. Fight it with ginseng, licorice root, and other lifestyle changes.

12. Loss of Sex Drive

The main causes for your loss of libido are your dropping hormone levels (estrogen and testosterone) and relationship issues. You may be surprised to know that your house is not the only one without a steamy bedroom. This is a very common symptom.

13. Hair Loss & Thinning Hair

Estrogen helped us to have thick, lovely hair in our youth. Now that our estrogen levels are dropping, so is our hair! Find out why and how to solve this issue.

What's Happening in My Body?

Women between the ages of 35-50 begin feeling the effects of a changing body.

Our hormones are shifting in new ways (mostly down!). We begin to have irregular periods, we're gaining weight, we feel bloated, and we're getting acne again!

All of these pre menopause symptoms come from our changing hormones which are gradually shifting to a stage in life when we will no longer menstruate - menopause.
